Dutch importer Reference Sounds announces the brand-new Matrix Audio TS-1 Music Streamer, packed with versatile features.
“If we had to name one brand as a rising star, it would be Matrix Audio. From visual design to user interface, from sound quality to collaborations—everything is on point. The introduction of the M-Series marked a new journey into Matrix-Audio-Wonderland. The sleek design language of the Major League M-Series recently extended into the more affordable TT-1 and NT-1 Digital Streaming Audio transports. At High End Munich, Matrix unveiled three new models continuing this trend. And now, we’re pleased to introduce the first of these: the Matrix Audio TS-1 Music Streamer,” says Reference Sounds.
TS-1 Music Streamer with DAC
The Matrix Audio TS-1 is the latest generation all-in-one music streamer from Matrix, featuring a high-quality built-in DAC and headphone amplifier. With five digital inputs, the TS-1 is described by the importer as “the perfect interface for music lovers who value quality combined with simplicity.” Beneath the aluminum housing—finished with a sleek perforated pattern and logo—lies a highly innovative and versatile piece of technology. The TS-1 can do a lot—really, a lot.
Streaming Audio
The main feature of the TS-1 is its powerful streaming audio platform. Compatible with Tidal Connect, Qobuz Connect, Spotify Connect, Internet Radio, and ROON Ready, it supports virtually every streaming scenario you can think of. “Matrix Audio is rightly proud of its own MA Player,” adds Reference Sounds. “It’s an excellent, highly intuitive, and great-sounding control app, available for free on Android and iOS. MA Player gives access to all streaming functions, lets you fully configure the TS-1, and acts as a remote control for input selection and volume.”
You can connect the TS-1 to your network via the RJ-45 Ethernet port or built-in WiFi antenna.
Internal Storage
The TS-1 also plays music from an external NAS, with content indexed by the MA Player app. Like the TT-1 and NT-1, it features a smart NVMe SSD slot accessible from the bottom of the unit. You can insert your own SSD to store music files directly on the device—ideal for downloaded purchases or CD rips. To rip a CD, simply connect a 5V USB optical drive to the USB port and follow the on-screen instructions.
Inputs
The TS-1 features inputs for a variety of digital sources, including coaxial, optical, USB, and HDMI (with eARC support). In addition to four digital inputs and streaming capabilities, it also has an analog RCA line input. This input can be configured via the MA Player app—whether for a standard line-level source or a turntable, for instance.
Fixed or Variable Output
There is also enough to appreciate in matter of outputs. The TS-1 offers analog signal output via both single-ended (RCA) and balanced (XLR) connections. These can be set to fixed volume (ideal for pairing with an integrated amp or preamp) or variable volume (allowing you to control the output directly via the app—perfect for use with power amps or active speakers).
Headphone Output
“Matrix Audio is known for its high-quality headphone amplifiers,” says the importer. The TS-1 carries on this tradition with a newly developed high-bias amplification stage specifically tuned for high-end headphones, delivering superb detail and definition. It includes both a 6.3mm single-ended jack and a 4.4mm balanced output, with two selectable gain levels to ensure compatibility with virtually any headphone.
Precision
Reference Sounds continues: “The level of precision with which Matrix Audio builds its audio circuits is truly impressive.”
The TS-1 uses two AK4493SEQ DAC chips in dual-parallel mode, ensuring balanced signal paths for maximum accuracy and dynamic contrast. Each DAC has its own dedicated power supply line for ultimate precision. Two femto-second clocks provide reference frequencies for 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz sample rates and their multiples. Even these clocks have separately regulated power supplies to minimize interference.
The analog and digital circuitry are implemented on separate boards, with the left and right channels fully symmetrical and isolated from each other—keeping interference to an absolute minimum.
Design and Availability
The TS-1 continues the bold new design direction from Matrix Audio. The compact housing features a large, bright touchscreen and a modern, functional aesthetic. With robust streaming features and the MA Player app, Reference Sounds describes the sound as “sparkling, tight, and immersive.”
The Matrix Audio TS-1 is available now for a retail price of €2699 (incl. VAT).

Nice package! Are your sure MA supports Qobuz Connect? I doubt it…
