Volumio has introduced its new Primo Plus streaming DAC, designed for anyone looking to start streaming in high quality.
At the heart of the new Volumio Primo Plus are two ESS ES9039Q2M DAC chips. This setup supports PCM playback up to 768 kHz / 32-bit and DSD up to DSD512. Compared to the previous model, the Primo Plus is essentially a complete redesign. New op-amps have been implemented, and the power supply has been re-engineered with low-noise line regulators and LC filters. The analogue and digital sections each have their own dedicated linear power supply—naturally, to minimise interference and distortion. The unit also features a new ultra-precise clock with exceptionally low phase noise.
Input options include USB-C, USB-A, Ethernet, coaxial, and optical. Outputs are available in both balanced XLR and traditional RCA. You can operate the Volumio Primo Plus using the built-in 1.3-inch OLED display and its physical controls, or via the supplied remote. If that screen feels too small for your taste, an HDMI output lets you display the user interface at up to 4K/60 Hz on an external monitor.
