Sonos has introduced the Play and Era 100 SL, entry-level models designed to help you quickly set up a multiroom audio system.
The Sonos Play (shown above) is the more portable of the two newcomers. Notably, it is a fully portable speaker with a built-in battery that charges via a flat docking base, giving it a design somewhat reminiscent of a kettle. And speaking of water, the Play is IP67-rated, making it resistant to water and dust. It also features an integrated power bank, allowing you to charge mobile devices on the go. If desired, up to four Play units can be linked via Bluetooth only, without the need for Wi-Fi.
The more affordable Era 100 SL is designed primarily for indoor use and integrates seamlessly into an existing Sonos system. It can also serve as the foundation for a system that can be expanded over time. Notably absent is a microphone for voice control, positioning it clearly as a true entry-level model.
The Sonos Play is priced at €349, while the Era 100 SL costs €199.99. Both models will be available from March 31, with pre-orders already open.
