One such example is the new Fosi Audio S3. This highly affordable streamer is built around the Amlogic A113X platform, featuring an AKM AK4493SEQ DAC chip and APA1612 op-amps. The design is fully balanced, which is also reflected on the rear panel where you’ll find two balanced XLR outputs. At the same time, traditional RCA outputs are included as well, since buyers in this price segment will likely use amplifiers without XLR inputs.
The Chinese-made Fosi Audio S3 supports popular streaming services such as Tidal Connect and Spotify Connect. It also offers Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Bluetooth and DLNA. According to the manufacturer, a Roon Ready certification process is currently underway. The unit can be controlled via an app, which also allows you to configure an equalizer. A standard IR remote control is included as well.
