It was crowded at the Dutch Audio Event… really crowded! That makes us incredibly happy, of course, because it means the audio scene is really picking up again after a few tough years due to a faltering and uncertain global economy. We made our way through the more than 80(!) exhibitors, had some nice chats, and took photos. Please note: this is just a snapshot; it’s not a complete overview of the show!
The entire Koningshof in Veldhoven, Netherlands, was once again filled with stunning systems. There really was something nice for everyone to see. From very affordable systems to extremely exclusive ones. You can see them all in the photos. The great thing about the show was that there were quite a few new product launches. Think of a prototype of the Grimm LS2 passive speaker, an active speaker from Yamaha, a prototype of a new Sonnet, or an on-wall subwoofer from Perlisten. Although that wasn’t necessarily a new product launch, but more of a demo showing that it works just as well mounted on the wall.
Geeking Out and Chatting
What we mainly did at this show was catch up, geek out about networks and PCBs, and share our views on the industry. What’s actually happening right now? What are consumers’ needs? What would work? And how do you adapt as a brand? After all, if the industry keeps making things people don’t need, it’s naturally going to come to an end.
We managed to shoot two videos amid the hustle and bustle. Of course, we wanted to shoot more, but there just wasn’t enough time. Plus, the battery was already almost dead :-).
