Aequo Audio is expanding and has started building a new 1200 square meter production facility in Eindhoven.

Dutch louspeaker manufacturer Aequo Audio has outgrown its premises and is busy building a new factory in Eindhoven (see photo above). Paul Rassin of the same Aequo Audio writes the following about it: ‘The core of the production line consists of an approximately 100 meter long monorail construction, where the loudspeakers will go through the production process while hanging. Inspired by Porsche’s factory, all future speaker designs may use the same production line. The facility is expected to have sufficient capacity to meet global demand for at least the next 5 years.’

Investment in R&D

Furthermore, Aequo Audio is investing heavily in Research & Development. This, according to Rassing, in order to remain distinctive in terms of technology. For example, two specialized labs are being built to ‘develop new groundbreaking technologies, such as acoustic Nanotech materials. The new facility will also house extensive and specialized machinery

Auditorium

Of interest is the auditorium that will be built too, in addition to a more general listening room. The auditorium is intended to be an ‘absolute reference’ that will be used both for demonstrations and development of new speakers. Rassing: ‘The shape of this approximately 100 square meter auditorium resembles that of a concert hall or a recording-venue. The space will be completely set up as a high-end listening room and aims to reproduce music as well and naturally as possible, regardless of the audio system. Various material combinations such as special concrete composite, rubber, various woods, copper, natural stone and natural wool are used in the construction. Unnatural interventions in terms of absorption and diffusion are avoided

Because we don’t want to leave you with only a picture of a factory hall under construction, below is a computer render of the auditorium to be built:
