The once “nostalgic” British speaker brand Heybrook is making a comeback, immediately introducing the new HB1 Evolution.
Whether the brand is still well-known outside the UK? Perhaps among an older generation of hi-fi enthusiasts. Younger people will have to take it on faith that it was one of those “legendary” British audio brands that thrived in the 1980s. Eventually, the company faded into history, only to rise again like a phoenix. Peter Comeau is (again) the driving force behind the brand. Once a co-founder of Heybrook and the designer of notable speakers like the Mission 780 and Wharfedale Diamond speakers, Comeau has a proven track record.
Heybrook HB1 Evolution
Pete Farrow is the current co-owner of Heybrook. If his name sounds familiar, it might be because Farrow is also the CEO of tube amplifier manufacturer English Acoustics. The first product released by the “resurrected” speaker manufacturer is the HB1 Evolution. Based on the original HB1, it’s a retro-looking speaker, but naturally updated with 21st-century technology. And since retro looks are quite popular right now, this could very well be a hit. The intended website for the speaker isn’t live yet at the time of writing, but that’s likely to change soon. English Acoustics has already teased some details on their Facebook page (see screenshot above).
