Vinyl enthusiasts who want to elevate their listening experience simply cannot do without a high-quality phono preamplifier, such as the Grimm Audio PW1.
Many built-in phono preamps in integrated amplifiers sound decent. However, with a separate, specialized, and optimized phono preamplifier, you often extract even more from your vinyl. That’s precisely where the new Grimm Audio PW1 comes into play. According to the manufacturer, it is the perfect companion for their MU2 and/or LS1 but also works excellently with any other device. Grimm states that the goal of the PW1 is to bring out the emotion in music, voices, and instruments.
Built-in Power Supply
What stands out in the design of the Grimm Audio PW1, is that as few components as possible are present in the signal path. Each amplification stage contains only one amplifying element and a quality-selected op-amp as a buffer. Further, FETs are used, including a specialized low-noise version for the MC input. Conveniently, there is the built-in power supply, based on a low-noise transformer from Amplimo. With dip switches, you can configure everything very flexibly to your needs and requirements, with both MM and MC cartridges supported as sources.
Finally, the price of the Grimm Audio PW1: €4800.
