The manufacturer introduces their new Pro-Ject Speaker Box 5 E Carbon as a bookshelf speaker for audiophiles.
It’s a familiar story: not everyone has the space (or the need) for large high-end floor-standing speakers. Yet, the desire to elevate the audio experience to audiophile levels remains. According to the manufacturer, this is precisely what the new Pro-Ject Speaker Box 5 E Carbon can offer. The speakers are housed in a compact, resonance-free MDF enclosure. A 5-inch fiberglass bass driver, a mid/low driver, and a 1-inch tweeter fill out the speaker’s design.
Choose Your Finish
The speakers feature a flat frequency response between 65 Hz and 20,000 Hz. Pro-Ject recommends pairing them with an amplifier capable of delivering at least 10 watts per channel for optimal performance. The speakers come with removable magnetic grilles and are available in five matte finishes, as well as an option with a real walnut wood veneer.
The Speaker Box 5 E Carbon is priced at €499 per pair in the standard matte finishes, while the walnut veneer version is available for €550 per pair. For a (promised) audiophile-grade set of speakers, this pricing—especially for the walnut version—is quite reasonable.
