The active ATC SCM20ASL speakers hail from England and come equipped with a range of interesting features — designed especially for purists.
With the ATC SCM20ASL, you’re bringing home a pair of high-quality monitors. They’re active speakers, meaning that each unit contains separate amplifiers for the high and mid-bass frequencies. These amplifier sections are fully tuned to the speaker’s characteristics. You get up to 200 watts for the mid-bass driver and 50 watts for the tweeter, all operating in Class A/B. According to the manufacturer, these speakers perform best in smaller rooms or when placed close to a wall.
Active (or passive)
The ATC SCM20ASL monitors are particularly well-suited for reproducing vocals and acoustic instruments. That’s largely thanks to the 150 mm “super linear” woofer. Each speaker measures 201 x 450 x 411 mm and weighs just over 20 kilograms. A generous six-year warranty is included with every pair.
As for pricing: a pair will set you back €8,990. A passive “Classic” version is also available. You can find both models on this page, just scroll down a bit for the active version described here.
Lastly, if the model number sounds familiar — it might be because a special anniversary edition was released under the same name last year!
