Not a bad idea at all: the floating turntable platter of the Audio-Technica Hotaru. It keeps unwanted vibrations at bay!
The new Audio-Technica Hotaru features a floating platter that is suspended in the air by powerful magnets. Since it’s essentially an all-in-one turntable — with built-in speakers — the feedback from the speakers doesn’t affect the sound you hear. To make things even more fun, the platter is equipped with an integrated light show. That also explains the name of the device, as Hotaru is Japanese for firefly. The colors change to the rhythm of the music, which is always entertaining. Alternatively, you can choose a smooth, non-music-related color cycle.
However, there is one catch with the Audio-Technica Hotaru: it will be released in a very limited edition of just 1,000 units. The price tag is also quite steep at $9,999. To even have a chance at getting one, you’ll need to pre-register via this page. Reservations are open until May 30 this year, with deliveries set to begin in October.
