The Schiit Audio Mimir is the first Mesh-DAC from this American manufacturer, and it comes with a (still…?) pleasantly affordable price tag.

Let’s be honest: the new Schiit Audio Mimir DAC is mainly interesting because of its specifications paired with a surprisingly low price. And naturally, for anyone outside the US, that’s where things might get complicated. What you’ll end up paying in the EU remains to be seen, given the currently unpredictable US tariffs. But assuming things stay reasonably priced, the Mimir is a very compelling option and certainly a great entry point into higher-quality hi-fi. According to the manufacturer, it’s their first Mesh-DAC, combining a “unique time and frequency filter with a standard delta-sigma modulator.” Also noteworthy is the optional next-generation Forkbeard module, which turns the DAC into a full-fledged preamplifier. There’s also the unique, in-house Unison 384 technology for the USB input.

Another clever and cost-saving feature is that Schiit’s combination digital filter runs on the same 32-bit CPU that also handles Unison 384. In terms of inputs, you get Unison 384 USB, AES, coaxial, and optical. For outputs, you can choose between balanced XLR and standard RCA.

The Schiit Audio Mimir costs $299 in its standard version and $349 with the Forkbeard module.
