The Volumio Preciso is the first standalone DAC from the well-known Italian audio brand. It’s designed to work with virtually any digital audio source, including streamers.
Volumio is best known for its streaming products and its popular software platform that allows users to build their own streaming solutions. With the Preciso, the company takes a step into dedicated DAC territory. At its core are two ESS Sabre ES9039Q2M DAC chips, enabling support for high-resolution audio up to PCM 768 kHz / 32-bit and DSD up to DSD512. A high-precision MEMS oscillator ensures stable and accurate clocking. The analog output stage features a Texas Instruments OPA1612A op-amp in a dual-mono layout for optimal channel separation and performance.
In- and Outputs
Input options on the Preciso include USB, S/PDIF, coaxial (up to 192 kHz / 24-bit PCM), and I2S via HDMI. Outputs consist of both unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR connections. Volumio has also paid close attention to the power supply design: analog and digital sections are powered separately, and the DAC is equipped with a total filter capacitance of 5000 µF to ensure clean, stable voltage delivery.
