Granted, not everyone will consider the €1290 price tag for the new Clearaudio Compass as truly “entry-level.” But then again, it’s not outrageous either—especially if you’re looking to get genuine listening pleasure out of your vinyl collection, whether old or new. Let’s call this turntable an entry model for those who want more than an old hi-fi turntable gathering dust in the attic or a basic supermarket player. One clear advantage of the Compass is its pleasantly compact construction. It also comes factory-equipped with an MM cartridge. Notably, all the key components are handcrafted—including the tonearm, cartridge, bearing, and platter. Final assembly takes place in a Czech facility using an MDF chassis.
Heavy-Duty Steel Plate
An 8-kilogram steel plate mounted underneath the chassis provides the necessary stability. The belt-driven Clearaudio Compass also includes a (removable) dust cover and adjustable feet for proper decoupling—both standard features. The turntable is available in either silver or black finish.
