‘AURALiC Throws in the Towel’

Sad news for fans of the brand: according to Stereonet, AURALiC has ceased sales of its products effective immediately.

In practice, halting product sales usually signals the end of the road for a company. And that is exactly what’s happening at AURALiC, as reported in this article from Stereonet. The manufacturer of high-end streaming products has faced mounting problems in recent times. Trump’s tariff war meant AURALiC could no longer supply the U.S. market. Earlier this month, founder and director Wang resigned. The company’s user forum also disappeared without explanation. And now, according to Stereonet, the company’s domain name is up for sale for $2 million.

Whether AURALiC has any future left remains highly uncertain. A buyer might emerge as a savior, but even then, it’s questionable whether things could return to how they were. The high-end market is under heavy pressure for numerous reasons: trade wars, difficulties sourcing components, fierce competition from tech giants, and more.

AURALiC Benelux issues the following statement:

AURALiC Update

Recently, rumors have circulated suggesting that AURALiC has ceased its activities. We therefore feel it is time to provide some clarity. AURALiC has indeed halted all sales activities with immediate effect due to declining sales, caused in part by U.S. tariffs and increased competition.

Over the years, AURALiC built up a strong and loyal dealer network—particularly in the Benelux—and enjoyed growing popularity among consumers. This step therefore comes as an unpleasant surprise for us as a distributor, and together with our fellow European distributors we are now considering the implications of this decision.

Given the current situation, we have decided to shift our focus at the upcoming Dutch Audio Event (DAE) in Veldhoven less on AURALiC (though some models are still available) and more on our brand Dynaudio’.

Didn’t see that one coming! Thought Auralic was making healthy profits. But then again, they are operating in a niche market. If such a company can’t survive, lesser known companies should be struggling even harder ??
