The TEAC PD-507T is a pure CD transport (without DAC) and a new addition to the manufacturer’s Reference 500 series.
Although the TEAC PD-507T complements the brand’s Reference 500 series, there’s nothing stopping you from using it in another setup. The unit features TEAC’s proprietary CD transport mechanism, manufactured in-house and designed to deliver uncompromising, reference-quality CD playback. Both the mechanical and electronic components are, according to the manufacturer, perfectly matched.
The TEAC PD-507T supports audio CDs, CD-R, and CD-RW. Connectivity is straightforward: coaxial and digital outputs only. As noted, you’ll need to provide your own DAC — or pair it with an integrated amplifier featuring a built-in D/A converter. Internally, separate power supplies are dedicated to the clock circuit and digital output. If desired, an external 10 MHz master clock generator can also be added.
The PD-507T CD transport is available in black or silver finishes at a retail price of €1,299. At the time of writing, the new model has yet to appear on the manufacturer’s website; we only stumbled upon it by chance via this report on Forbes.
