The days of tinny or overwhelmingly boomy computer speakers are thankfully behind us. Just take a look at the Klipsch ProMedia Lumina!
For years, computer speakers were downright dreadful—poor quality, noise, hum, distortion, you name it. Creative helped set the trend toward better sound with speakers like the Gigaworks T20. Today, proper hi-fi has made its way to the desktop, and the Klipsch ProMedia Lumina is a great example of that: an active speaker set designed to sit comfortably on your desk. According to the manufacturer, it’s aimed at both everyday listeners as well as content creators and gamers.
Each satellite speaker features Klipsch’s own 2.5 mm tweeter paired with the brand’s MicroTractrix horn, plus a 7.6 cm midrange driver. A separate, side-firing 16.5 cm subwoofer handles the low end.
The Klipsch ProMedia Lumina offers a wide range of connectivity options: USB-C, a 3.5 mm line input, and Bluetooth 5.3. You can choose from various listening modes such as Music and Movie, fine-tune the sound using the 6-band EQ, activate virtual surround, and even enable a neighbor-friendly night mode. In that mode, low frequencies are kept in check and the overall volume is reduced. As a final touch, Klipsch added ambient lighting with five selectable modes.
The set costs €399. It’s available immediately in the US and will roll out to the rest of the world starting January next year.
