With the new Thorens MC 1600, you’re getting a highly versatile phono preamplifier boasting true high-end performance.
A good phono stage is essential for extracting every ounce of musicality from vinyl playback — naturally when paired with a capable turntable and cartridge. The Thorens MC 1600 is compatible with both MM and MC cartridges and is handcrafted in Germany, with great attention to detail and craftsmanship. According to the manufacturer, this phono preamp delivers excellent channel separation and a refined, natural sound signature.
Inside, only premium-grade components are used, and gain can be adjusted in ten steps ranging from 32 to 68 dB. Capacitance is also widely configurable, from 50 pF up to 600 pF. For MC cartridges, input impedance can be fine-tuned in 60 steps (20–1280 ohms). A subsonic filter is included as well — all parameters can be adjusted per channel via dip switches.
Connection options include both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs and outputs.
The Thorens MC 1600 retails for €2,199.
