Rega introduces new pre/power amplifier combination

Rega has unveiled its new high-end pre/power amplifier duo: the Mercury preamplifier and the Solis power amplifier.

A well-matched high-end system not only looks cleaner, it is often perfectly tuned in terms of component synergy. In that regard, the new Mercury/Solis combination from Rega is immediately compelling. According to the manufacturer, the set is designed for truly high-end performance — something that’s reflected in the price tag. Make sure you have a solid audio rack ready, as the pair weighs a combined 40 kilograms.

Rega says the Mercury preamp incorporates nearly forty years of design experience. The company is particularly proud of its extremely low noise floor, which they claim positively enhances dynamic performance. The Mercury offers seven analogue inputs, including one balanced XLR. It also includes a built-in DAC with five digital inputs, one of which is USB. Maximum supported audio quality is 32-bit / 192 kHz PCM and DSD up to DSD64 (DoP). A built-in headphone amplifier is also provided, capable of delivering up to 2.5 W into 33 ohms.

The Rega Solis stereo power amplifier outputs 168 watts per channel into 8 ohms (or 2 x 305 W into 4 ohms). At 100 watts into 8 ohms, the THD+N measures just 0.015%.

Both components are priced at €8,449 each, meaning a full Mercury + Solis set will cost €16,898.
