On the weekend of 28 February and 1 March, AudioZaal in Utrecht will present A Proper British Listening Session — an event centered around the PMC Prophecy 7 and the Cyrus 40 Series.
On Saturday 28 February (11:00–16:00) and Sunday 1 March (12:00–16:00), music lovers are warmly invited to visit AudioZaal at Springweg 15 in the Dutch city of Utrecht. In collaboration with Terrasson Audio and Linear HiFi, the store will showcase what it describes as some of the best British audio currently available.
“During this listening weekend we will demonstrate the PMC Prophecy 7 driven by the new Cyrus 40-Series Amplifier, with the 40 ST Network Player and 40 CD player as sources. Naturally, we will also demonstrate the optional 40 PSU power supply upgrades,” the announcement states.
Admission is free and no appointment is required.
About the PMC Prophecy 7
According to AudioZaal, the Prophecy series brings the professional studio world directly into the living room. The speakers are developed according to the same design philosophy that has made PMC a global reference in recording studios, mastering facilities and broadcast environments. As a result, the Prophecy models aim to deliver exceptionally neutral and controlled sound reproduction, presenting music as it was actually recorded, while maintaining a living-room-friendly form factor and finish.
A key technical foundation of the series is PMC’s patented Advanced Transmission Line (ATL™) technology. This design enables deeper, tighter and better-controlled bass reproduction with significantly less distortion and coloration than traditional bass-reflex designs. ATL is also said to help the speakers maintain balance, dynamics and detail even at lower listening levels.
During the event, the focus will be on the floorstanding three-way Prophecy 7, which AudioZaal describes as offering an “impressive combination of scale, control and refinement.” Thanks to its dedicated three-way design, each driver operates within its optimal range, resulting in an open midrange, refined treble and powerful, deep, controlled bass. The smaller Prophecy 1 standmount speaker will also be on display in the store.
About the Cyrus 40 Series
With the 40 Series, Cyrus introduces an entirely new product line, described by AudioZaal as being designed around a fresh vision of modern hi-fi sound. The range consists of five perfectly matched components, forming a compact yet powerful and distinctly British audio system.
The 40 AMP is a Class A/B integrated amplifier delivering 100 watts per channel. A wide range of analogue and digital inputs ensures it can serve as the heart of virtually any music system, including HDMI connectivity for seamless TV integration.
The 40 ST network player, running on the well-known BluOS platform, provides easy access to numerous streaming services and internet radio stations via TuneIn. It also features multiple digital inputs, is Roon Ready, and is aimed at listeners seeking ultimate integration.
Completing the trio is the 40 CD player, described by AudioZaal as a highly musical, high-level design. Its high-resolution display shows detailed playback information, while a low noise floor is said to contribute to exceptional sound quality. The player features both analogue and digital outputs, allowing it to be used as a CD transport if desired.
For purists, the 40 PSU external power supply offers an upgrade path for any Cyrus 40 Series component. According to AudioZaal, this power supply takes performance to an even higher level — an improvement that is “clearly audible.”
All Cyrus products are developed and manufactured in the United Kingdom and come with a five-year warranty when purchased from an authorized dealer such as AudioZaal in Utrecht.
