The new HummingGuru EZ Vinyl Record Washer is a manual device. In other words, you turn a small crank yourself to rotate the record while it’s being cleaned. That should work just fine—and we’d wager it immediately saves quite a bit of money on the drive mechanism. No microcontrollers or electronics here; you simply use your own biological “controller.” A practical aspect of this record washer is that the label is protected during cleaning. The clamp fits neatly over it, ensuring that it stays completely dry.
For the brushes, the manufacturer has opted for ultra-soft goat hair. A leak-free drying rack that can hold up to eight records keeps everything neatly organized after washing, which is always a welcome feature.
The HummingGuru EZ Vinyl Record Washer supports 7-, 10-, and 12-inch records; an adapter for 7-inch singles is included, so you can safely give your 45s a proper clean as well. Pricing has not yet been announced at the time of writing. However, considering that the brand also offers an ultrasonic record cleaner priced at $398, this could well turn out to be a relatively affordable solution. Availability is expected from this month.
