FiiO has introduced the Darkside Pro, a linear power supply designed to deliver a precise and stable power source for connected equipment.
It’s no secret that many included switching power adapters do not provide the cleanest power output—aside from a few exceptions. In that respect, the FiiO Darkside Pro aims to be an ideal replacement, as it features a fully linear design. Of course, that alone doesn’t guarantee quality, since poorly designed linear supplies can still introduce noise and other issues. That should certainly not be the case here.
At its core is a 75-watt toroidal transformer, while the voltage regulation stage is built using a discrete design, including parallel-configured N-MOSFETs. This setup ensures that the output voltage remains stable even during short-term current peaks from connected devices.
The output voltage can be switched between 12 and 15 volts, with fine adjustment available for those who want precise tuning. The maximum output current is 3A, which is typically sufficient for powering devices such as streamers, DACs, preamplifiers and headphone amplifiers.
The FiiO Darkside Pro will be available from April this year, priced at €159.
