The new Takumi Level 1.1 is positioned as an entry-level model, aimed at newcomers to vinyl as well as anyone looking to step up in sound quality.
When thinking of entry-level turntables, price tags of just a few hundred euros usually come to mind. The new Takumi Level 1.1 costs a bit more, but it also has plenty to offer. According to the manufacturer, the model is designed for those entering the world of vinyl, but also for anyone simply wanting to get more out of their records. Especially if you are currently using a standard turntable—perhaps an older model—it can serve as a worthwhile upgrade. The Level 1.1 borrows many construction principles from the larger 2.1 model, the manufacturer notes. The main difference lies in the drive system: while the Level 2.1 uses an electronically controlled DC motor, the 1.1 employs a classic AC motor.
Also worth mentioning is the mechanical decoupling of the record and platter from the rest of the player. The platter itself is made of acrylic and finished using CNC machining. This should ensure precise rotation and a perfectly flat surface. The belt-driven turntable supports the familiar speeds of 33⅓ and 45 rpm. It stands on three decoupled feet, designed to provide both stability and vibration reduction. The tonearm is identical to that of its larger sibling, the 2.1.
The Takumi Level 1.1 is available immediately at a price of €1,295. At the time of writing, the manufacturer’s website only lists information about the larger 2.1 model, but we expect the 1.1 to be added shortly.
