The Exposure Electronics 5510 is a British high-end preamplifier that clearly belongs in the premium category.
Exposure promises a “pitch-black” background from its new 5510 preamp. According to the manufacturer, the unit is designed to put the music itself center stage—which, after all, is what the hi-fi world is really all about. To make that possible, the foundation starts with an ultra-low-noise power supply. At the heart of it is a custom toroidal transformer with integrated hum shielding.
The 5510 is a fully analog design. It offers six line inputs along with pre-outs and tape outputs. Should you want to add some digital functionality, that is also possible via an optional DAC module. Vinyl enthusiasts have not been forgotten either: there is a choice of three optional phono preamplifier modules, depending on the cartridge type in use. There is even a dedicated module available for the brand-new optical cartridges from DS Audio.
The Exposure 5510 is housed in a vibration-controlled solid aluminum chassis. To complete the package, it also features a 99-step relay-controlled volume system.
The Exposure 5510 is priced at £3,500. Optional MM and MC phono modules cost £420, while the DS Audio optical phono module is available for £500. The optional DAC board carries a price tag of £650.
