With the new Q Acoustics 3040c, you get a compact floorstanding loudspeaker that should feel equally at home in smaller listening rooms.
The 3040c is the latest addition to Q Acoustics’ 3000c Series. It is an exceptionally slim floorstander, designed to do its job without drawing too much attention to itself. Moreover, its compact dimensions make it particularly suitable for smaller listening spaces.
Q Acoustics uses its proprietary C3 driver technology, in this case consisting of two 120 mm mid/bass drivers featuring the company’s patented Continuous Curved Cone design. This technology is intended to combine powerful bass reproduction with a controlled midrange. According to the manufacturer, the result is a smooth transition to the tweeter while maintaining a clear and detailed midrange.
The 22 mm tweeter is derived from the more expensive Concept Series and is hermetically sealed. In addition, it is mechanically isolated from the front baffle, which should help reduce unwanted vibrations and the effects of internal cabinet pressure.
The enclosure itself incorporates Q Acoustics’ proprietary P2P (Point-to-Point) bracing. This allows vibration-sensitive areas of the cabinet to be selectively reinforced and stabilised. Furthermore, special internal tubes are used to reduce standing waves and pressure effects inside the enclosure. According to the manufacturer, this remains effective even at higher listening levels, helping the speaker maintain a controlled and musical presentation.
That particular Q Acoustics technology is called HPE, or Helmholtz Pressure Equalizer.
The Q Acoustics 3040c is available in four finishes: Satin Black, Satin White, Pin Oak, and Claro Walnut. It is available immediately, priced at €899 per pair.
