They remain great fun, those special-edition turntables that Pro-Ject releases on a regular basis. And now there’s a Harley-Davidson version!
For many people, Harley-Davidson isn’t ‘just’ a brand, but rather the symbol of an entire philosophy and way of life. To some extent, the same could be said of dedicated vinyl enthusiasts. So it’s nice to see Pro-Ject and Harley-Davidson joining forces.
The resulting turntable certainly stands out, with its design based on the familiar logo of the American motorcycle brand. Its chassis is made from a precisely manufactured aluminium-MDF sandwich, while your records sit on a substantial 300mm glass platter. The whole thing is belt-driven using a synchronous AC motor, which in turn is controlled by a precision DC-to-AC converter. Naturally, you can choose between the familiar 33 1/3 and 45rpm speeds.
A record weight is also included and, almost inevitably, it too carries the Harley-Davidson logo.
As standard, the turntable comes equipped with an S-shaped tonearm and SME headshell. Also included are a genuine leather record mat, a semi-balanced phono cable and a 5-pin DIN output.
The entire turntable is handmade in Europe. The Pro-Ject Harley-Davidson turntable costs £2,299.
