Blok has introduced its brand-new Axis range: precision-engineered speaker stands designed, according to the company, to deliver optimal hi-fi performance.
Blok has introduced Axis, a range of precision-engineered speaker stands designed to unlock, according to the manufacturer, the full performance potential of any standmount loudspeaker. “Built on Monitor Audio Group’s Transparent Design Philosophy, Axis sets a new benchmark for acoustic engineering and refined design at this price point,” the British company writes.
Axis is available in three heights – 500 mm, 600 mm and 700 mm – all of which, interestingly, are offered at the same price. Thanks to the choice of heights, speaker positioning can be optimized for a wide variety of listening environments and loudspeaker designs, without having to make compromises.
Transparent Design Philosophy
The all-new Axis is built upon Monitor Audio Group’s R&D philosophy, which according to Blok aims to maintain a balance between design and technology. “One is never allowed to overpower the other and both play a vital role in delivering on our promise of musical neutrality and acoustic transparency – the physical designs need to sit comfortably within their environment and all elements of performance, technology, and design need to work in harmony,” the announcement states.
Acoustic Engineering & Design
At the core of the development of Axis is a commitment to acoustic inertness, Blok writes: “Every structural element has been engineered to minimise unwanted resonance and vibration, creating a platform from which loudspeakers can perform with greater clarity, focus and musical accuracy. Finished with Blok’s signature restrained aesthetic, Axis complement both contemporary interiors and premium loudspeakers alike.”
Stability & Isolation
According to the manufacturer, the precision-engineered metal top plate provides a stable and acoustically controlled platform compatible with virtually any standmount loudspeaker. Integrated rubber isolation pads decouple the speaker from the stand, reducing vibration and resonance transfer with the aim of producing a cleaner, more focused sound.
Mass-Fillable
At the heart of Axis is a rigid extruded metal central pole, engineered for exceptional strength and stability while minimizing resonance. The column can be completely filled with Blok’s proprietary IsoFill acoustic damping material, adding mass and vibration control to further enhance loudspeaker performance. According to Blok, the result is tighter bass reproduction and more precise imaging.
Plywood Plinth
The wide, chamfered plywood base delivers high rigidity and structural stability thanks to its layered construction. At the same time, this construction helps control resonance while adding strength precisely where it is needed most. According to Blok, the result is improved balance, reduced vibration transfer and greater overall acoustic precision.
Chrome-Plated Spikes
Axis is supplied with precision chrome-plated steel spikes. These provide optimal mechanical grounding by firmly coupling the stand to the floor. As a result, unwanted movement and resonance are minimized, which according to the manufacturer results in improved stability, focus and low-frequency control. For use on hard and wooden floors, Blok’s stainless-steel Floor Guard Discs are available as an optional accessory.
