The new T+A Solitaire T Pro is something of an all-rounder, featuring Dolby Atmos and a dedicated Studio Pro mode.

If you want to enjoy accurate, critical listening on the one hand, but also occasionally immerse yourself in surround sound, with or without wires, on the other, the brand-new T+A Solitaire T Pro could be just what you’re looking for. At its heart is a 42mm driver featuring a cellulose diaphragm. For purists, a dedicated studio mode is available. This uses an ESS ES9219 Sabre DAC chip combined with a purely analogue volume control. According to the manufacturer, the advantage is that no bits are lost, as can happen with digital volume control. The latter phenomenon is also known as bit stripping.

However, if you prefer to sit back and relax in the evening with a film, complete with all the bells and whistles of modern sound effects, that’s possible too. The Solitaire T Pro supports 360-degree surround sound, including Dolby Atmos. In addition, head tracking is provided, allowing the sound field to respond to movements of your head. On the wireless side, Bluetooth connectivity includes support for LDAC and aptX Adaptive. Meanwhile, a Sony chipset is used for active noise cancellation (ANC).

Last but not least, there is also the option of listening in ‘active analogue’ mode. This involves using an analogue cable connection while retaining access to internal features such as ANC and the aforementioned analogue volume control.

The T+A Solitaire T Pro is available in Nightflight and Riviera finishes. Prices we’ve seen are around $2,495.
