With the Fiio K13 R2R, you’re getting both a headphone amplifier and DAC in one. What makes it special: its D/A conversion is based on a resistor ladder network.
In fact, the Fiio K13 R2R is an evolution of last year’s K11 R2R. The new version offers higher output power, more connections, and a slightly larger chassis. At its core is a fully discrete 24-bit resistor ladder network, which the manufacturer claims delivers a natural, organic sound. It also promises extremely low distortion and audiophile-grade performance.
2400 mW output
The Fiio K13 R2R supports PCM playback up to 32-bit/384 kHz and DSD up to DSD256. Maximum output power is 2400 mW. For headphone connections, you can choose between 6.3 mm jacks and 4.4 mm balanced. Inputs include digital coaxial, optical, USB-C, two pairs of RCA stereo, and one pair of balanced XLR. Gain levels can be adjusted, making it suitable even for sensitive headphones. A built-in parametric equalizer can be configured via the companion Fiio app.
A front-panel display and rotary knob complete the package. The K13 R2R is priced at €319.
