Nothing’s latest product redefines in-ear audio with a breakthrough Super Mic — and the introduction of a metal design.
Nothing is introducing the Ear (3), the next generation of its flagship True Wireless Stereo line. According to the company, Ear (3) combines precision acoustics, a Super Mic built into the charging case, and a refreshed design language that, for the first time, integrates metal elements into Nothing’s signature transparent aesthetic.
Super Mic & Noise Cancellation
At the heart of Ear (3)’s innovation is the Super Mic. This dual microphone system, built into the charging case, uses ambient-filtering technology that focuses on your voice and suppresses surrounding noise by up to 95 dB. Nothing says this ensures crystal-clear calls in any environment. Super Mic is activated via the TALK button on the case.
Beyond phone calls, you can use the TALK button on the case to record voice notes directly with the Super Mic. These are automatically synced to Essential Space and transcribed there (Nothing OS required).
Each earbud also features three directional microphones and a bone-conduction Voice Pick-up Unit (VPU). As the company explains, the VPU detects micro-vibrations from the jaw and ear canal and converts them into electrical signals for accurate voice capture. Less affected by ambient noise, this system works alongside a multi-channel AI noise-cancellation engine—trained on more than 20 million hours of real-world audio—to isolate your voice and suppress wind noise, reducing wind by over 25 dB.
Real-time Adaptive Noise Cancellation (up to 45 dB in the buds) adapts to your surroundings every 600 milliseconds, while fit-related leakage is monitored every 1,875 milliseconds. According to Nothing, the result is consistent isolation, even as you move.
Sound
Thanks to Real-time Adaptive Noise Cancellation and an upgraded 12 mm dynamic driver, Ear (3) delivers rich, natural sound, the company says. A newly patterned diaphragm provides a 20% larger radiating area than the previous generation, boosting bass by 4–6 dB and treble by up to 4 dB for a wider soundstage, cleaner highs, and full mids.
Design
“Ear (3) introduces a refined design that remains unmistakably Nothing. The transparent housing reveals the intricate internal acoustic structure, accented by polished metal details. A custom Metal-Insulator-Metal (MIM) antenna just 0.35 mm thick improves total radiated power by 15% and signal sensitivity by 20% versus the previous generation (Ear, April 2024).
The charging case is made from 100% recycled aluminum and undergoes 27 precision processes. Nano-injection molding fuses metal and plastic without glue, creating a seamless, compact unibody,” Nothing notes.
Performance
A new 55 mAh battery per earbud delivers up to 10 hours of playback on a full charge—an increase of 90 minutes over the previous Ear. With the charging case, total listening extends to 38 hours. Wireless charging is built in for added convenience.
Bluetooth 5.4 with LDAC provides stable, detailed audio, while a low-latency mode reduces end-to-end delay to under 120 milliseconds—ideal for gaming and video. Ear (3) supports easy pairing via Google Fast Pair (Android), Microsoft Swift Pair (Windows), and iOS. Using the Nothing X app, you can customize controls and choose how to invoke Essential Space or ChatGPT from the buds.
Both the earbuds and the case carry an IP54 rating for resistance to dust, sweat, and light rain—well suited to everyday use.
