If you were a fan of Apple’s iconic iPod Nano, the new Shanling M0 Pura could be just the portable music player you’ve been waiting for.
Weighing just 35.8 grams, the M0 Pura is roughly the size of a wristwatch. Or an iPod Nano, if you prefer the comparison. Despite its tiny dimensions, it packs an impressive array of modern hardware. At the heart of the player are dual Cirrus Logic CS43131 DAC chips delivering their work. The M0 Pura supports PCM playback at resolutions of up to 32-bit / 384 kHz. DSD up to DSD128 is also fully supported.
The player is operated via a compact 1.54-inch colour touchscreen, while Shanling’s proprietary MTouch operating system provides the user interface.
More Than Just a Music Player
The M0 Pura is more than a standalone portable player. It can also function as a USB DAC, making it suitable for use with computers and other compatible devices. Bluetooth connectivity is included for wireless audio, while wired headphone users can choose between a standard 3.5 mm headphone output and a 4.4 mm balanced connection.
Music is stored on a microSD card, with support for capacities of up to 2 TB. The player is compatible with a wide range of audio formats, including FLAC, ALAC, WAV, MP3 and DSD. Power comes from a built-in 650 mAh rechargeable battery, providing up to nine hours of continuous playback on a full charge.
Perhaps most impressive of all is the price: the Shanling M0 Pura retails for just €129.
