US-based Dan Clark Audio has introduced a new pair of headphones: the Aeon Core. More precisely, it is a full-size over-ear model aimed at serious headphone enthusiasts.

The Dan Clark Aeon Core is certainly not a budget model headphone. Instead, it is aimed at dedicated headphone listeners who are prepared to spend serious money on high-end—or at least decidedly upper-class—hi-fi. The Aeon Core is a closed-back design, featuring a newly developed planar magnetic driver and new diaphragm material. According to the manufacturer, this combination results in a sensitivity of 97 dB.

Dan Clark’s proprietary V-Planar technology is used for the diaphragm and is intended to reduce distortion. Meanwhile, the exterior design of these over-ear headphones is certainly distinctive. The combination of aluminium and dark wood gives the Aeon Core a decidedly classy appearance. In addition, a lightweight titanium headband is used, while the complete headphones weigh 440 grams.

As for connectivity, you have several options. The headphones come with a balanced 4.4 mm / 4-pin XLR cable, while an unbalanced 6.35 mm / 3.5 mm option is also available.

The Dan Clark Aeon Core is priced at $899.99. For that amount, you also get a microfibre cleaning cloth and a velvet carrying pouch.
