Measurements and conclusion
Contents
We also measured the speaker. We did that with a CLIO12 with QC package. A DPA4061 was used as the measurement microphone.
As mentioned, the Joep Slooten Hyperion measures awfully straight. This is an in-room measurement with a window of 13ms. Response from 200 Hz is usable. But we can also see – without window – that 20 Hz is just met.
Especially the phase is terribly straight. From 80 Hz the Firtec system doesn’t work (can’t), and it shows. Everything above that is just dead straight. We measure it within /- 1 degree, which is just perfect.
We see in our measurement – but that may be due to the position of the microphone – a resonance point around 2500 Hz. It’s still pretty low, so we can’t call it a problem.

Distortion is low (not very surprising), but runs a bit wacky. This could be due to the CLIO (we do have some quibbles with the system in this area), or to the DSP that’s in it. Either way, everything is well below the audible limit when we convert.
All in all, very neat results in any case!
