Audirvāna has released version 3 of its software. There are three main changes: a new interface, a new remote app and EQ. Time to take a closer look at Audirvāna Studio once again.
For two of the four editors, Audirvāna is the application used to listen to streaming services and locally stored music files. Yung uses Studio on his MacBook, this editor uses Core. Functionally, the Mac, Windows and Linux Core versions of Audirvāna Studio 3 are the same.
Audirvāna Origin
The Origin version, i.e. without integration of streaming services, has not yet been converted to the new design. That will come later. The new Remote App does work with Origin.
Stability
For this update review, we look at Core, which is the most interesting version: Audirvāna is increasingly becoming a software component to be chosen by a streamer manufacturer.
With version 3, Audirvāna Core’s reliability and stability have improved. Especially the connection to the Remote App on Apple phones and tablets was still prone to faltering, resulting in error messages. Or the Remote App refused to connect at all, with no error message. Restarting Core is the remedy, but of course this cannot be the intention.
With version 3, this seems to be a thing of the past, at least in my setup. The Remote App also feels more responsive.
Gebruik Audirvana al jaren met veel plezier en soms zijn er ook zaken die minder goed werken. Laats nog met mijn PS Audio Airlens, maar dat is opgelost. Ik heb beide versie maar de Studio versie heb ik recentelijk gepauzeerd, omdat ik ik ook Qobuz heb gepauzeerd. De aanschaf van twee heel mooie vintage FM tuners, eentje van Luxman en eentje van Sansui, hebben me hier toe aangezet. Was daadwerkelijk vergeten hoe ongelooflijk goed dit klinkt (met gratis streamingdiensten op de FM band). Een buitenantenne is dan wel raadzaam. Daarbij zien deze vintage tuners er ook nog eens super uit. Ook een aanrader voor wie eens wat anders wil! Wellicht een puntje voor Alpha-Audio om hier eens wat aandacht aan te besteden, want eind jaren zeventig, begin jaren tachtig werden werkelijk onverwoestbare en zeer goed klinkende FM tuners geproduceerd. Dat is heden ten dage wel anders en DAB+ is het net niet.
