TOZO has sent us a new top-of-the-range true wireless in-ear model. In the world of TOZO, ‘top-of-the-range’ means a price tag of around 100 euros. That’s right.
The only other TOZO model we tested in this category a few years ago was the Golden X1 (€149); these TWS in-ear headphones, featuring a combination of balanced armature and dynamic drivers, made a real impression. The NC20 Pro are ‘in-ear headphones with a stem’ and are available in four colours.
Touchscreen
What makes the NC20 Pro special is the charging case, or ‘cradle’. Not only is it fitted with a full-colour display, but it’s also a touchscreen that enables to control various functions: volume, 6 noise-cancelling modes, next/previous track, etc., and settings. During the test period, we made extensive use of this touchscreen. It’s incredibly handy to control a TWS in-ear with a separate little case. We predict that other brands will follow this example (or they’ll ask TOZO to make a similar IEM for them). Mark our words.
Noise cancellation and other features
The NC20 Pro offers several types of noise cancellation. We find the adaptive mode the most useful. As you might expect, the level of ambient noise suppression is determined by the level of ambient noise. In practice, this works very well. The mode that suppresses wind noise (e.g. whilst cycling) also works well.
The battery life of both the in-ear headphones and the charging case is excellent. Depending on usage, the earbuds last between 8 and 16 hours, and on average we can recharge them 4–5 times without needing to recharge the charging case itself. Recharging is done via USB-C or wireless charging.
Another handy feature is the ‘Find My’ function for when you’ve left your earbuds somewhere but can’t remember where. We haven’t tested the ‘one-tap water ejection’ function.
Another handy feature is the ability to personalise the EQ; a tool allows you to tailor the frequencies to your hearing. It really does work. And previous TOZO settings are carried over via the TOZO app for this model of in-ear headphones.
