Google Home speakers face Bluetooth problem

Do you have a Google Home speaker that keeps disconnecting from Bluetooth? Then you’re not the only one and Google says it’s working on a solution.

For more than a year now, users of the Google Home speakers have been complaining about the Bluetooth connection being disconnected over and over again. This is because, in addition to an extensive network streaming capability, the smart speakers also have a Bluetooth module… an old one. In this way, you can, for example, pair up a smartphone and play some music.

This usually only works for a few minutes, after which the connection is disconnected and playback stops. And that, of course, is highly annoying. Which raises the legitimate question of why Google has waited so long to pick up the complaints.

Both Google Home and Mini

Both the regular Google Home and the Home Mini are affected by the Bluetooth bug. Hopefully this is a software problem for which Google can indeed offer a solution. Or a hardware problem that can be brought into line by means of a software update. Whether and when the firmware update for the smart speakers can be expected is as yet unknown. But if you are an avid user of the Bluetooth option, then you can hope for a quick solution. In any case, the good news is that the problem has finally been acknowledged by the supplier.
