The latest firmware update for the Cambridge Audio MXN10 (shown above) and AXN10 will give volume control to both streamers. Pretty handy, as this will allow you to take a preamplifier out of the chain, should you want to. Until now, both devices had “only” fixed-level line output. The firmware adds digital volume control. However, if you want to keep using your old configuration with a preamplifier plus power amplifier or integrated amplifier, of course you can! The fixed line output also remains an option, even with the new firmware.
According to the manufacturer, the firmware update also brings some minor improvements here and there, so always worth installing.
