Perhaps the name of the Stack Audio Smooth LAN already gives it away a bit, but the newborn is a network filter.
UK-based Stack Audio has released the SmoothLAN network filter. According to the manufacturer, it has only one specific purpose and that is to eliminate crosstalk and interference caused by a network cable. Both are major causes of parasitic noise that can invade sensitive hi-fi components such as a streamer, for example. The filter is encased in a sturdy aluminum housing, with that housing being part of the actual filter through cleverly placed holes. No less than twenty screws are used to hermetically seal the housing and to achieve a perfect seal with the aforementioned holes. Included is a CAT7 network cable with conductors made of oxygen-free copper and gold-plated connectors.
The Stack Audio SmoothLAN costs £200 ex VAT.
