Although the first Bluesound Pulse Flex was introduced back in 2015, it remains one of the brand’s most popular models — so it was clearly time for an update!
The Bluesound Pulse Flex has always come with an attractive price tag, and it’s the Canadian brand’s best-selling wireless speaker. That’s likely thanks in part to its affordability — but don’t be fooled, this is a capable little speaker with plenty of features. Originally launched in 2015, Bluesound decided it was time for a refresh. According to the company, the new version has been designed to make its acclaimed sound signature more accessible than ever, without compromising on detail or quality. Whether that goal has been achieved is for listeners to decide.
Under the hood, a custom-designed SmartDSP amplifier delivers up to 50 watts of power, driving a 10 cm woofer and 19 mm tweeter. The system supports hi-res audio up to 24-bit / 192 kHz and DSD up to DSD256. For those with a library of MQA files, support is included as well. Room correction can be handled through the BluOS app. On the streaming side, the usual suspects are all present — Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and Roon Ready certification among them.
Connectivity
The new Pulse Flex offers dual-band Wi-Fi, a gigabit Ethernet port, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth with aptX HD, USB-C, and an optical/analog combo jack. If one speaker isn’t enough, you can pair two for stereo sound. When combined with a Bluesound Powernode, or models such as the Pulse Cinema or Cinema Mini, they can even serve as rear speakers in a surround setup.
All in all, it’s a highly versatile package that’s ready to perform right out of the box.
The Pulse Flex (2025 edition) is available in Black Charcoal, White Pebble Grey, and White Tan, priced at €299.
