Make any speaker wireless with Pro-Ject

Pro-Ject Audio Systems has introduced two new streamers, with the Wireless Box E arguably being the more intriguing of the two.

Do you have a good pair of passive speakers but no wireless streaming capabilities? Then the new Pro-Ject Wireless Box E (shown above) is an appealing and relatively affordable solution. It effectively turns any passive speaker into an active one with wireless connectivity. In some cases, you can connect the unit directly to the speaker terminals—especially if they are positioned at the right angle, as is the case with Pro-Ject’s own speakers. Otherwise, the module can be neatly mounted on the back of the speaker. In that scenario, a short length of speaker cable is required, which the manufacturer also offers. The module runs on Wiim OS, integrating seamlessly into Pro-Ject’s streaming ecosystem.

If you already own active speakers but they lack wireless or streaming functionality, there’s also the new Stream Box E. This compact all-in-one streamer adds streaming capabilities to any hi-fi system with, for example, a free line input. It supports services such as Qobuz, Tidal Connect and Spotify Connect. In addition, it functions as a digital preamplifier with volume control and multiple inputs. This unit also runs on Wiim OS.

The Pro-Ject Stream Box E is priced at €179, while the Wireless Box E costs €229. Note that for a stereo setup, you’ll need two Wireless Box E units.
