Shanling could nowadays be considered as a Chinese A-brand. And they released a brand new streamer: the SM90.
Shanling has built up a solid reputation over the years—so don’t expect bargain-bin pricing from AliExpress or Temu. What you do get is strong quality for a still reasonable price. The new Shanling SM90 streamer appears to deliver exactly that, at least on paper.
The SM90 comes equipped with all the streaming features you’d expect to get up and running right away. It supports popular services such as Qobuz Connect and Tidal Connect, and is also Roon Ready. Bluetooth 5.2 is included as well, with support for codecs including LDAC, AAC and, of course, the classic SBC. Internally, there’s also provision for an SSD slot, allowing you to store a large music library locally—if you choose to install one. External storage devices can be connected via USB.
In terms of inputs, you’ll find options such as coaxial, optical and USB DAC (allowing the streamer to function as a D/A converter). On the output side, connections include coaxial, optical, USB, RCA and XLR.
The Shanling SM90 is priced at €999.
