New JPLAY version brings major upgrades

The latest version of the JPLAY app introduces HQPlayer library support, Smart Playlists and a new History screen.

This new update of JPLAY is a significant one. It adds integration with the HQPlayer library, dynamic Smart Playlists, a completely redesigned History screen with calendar view, and various improvements based on community feedback.

HQPlayer library support

Full integration with the HQPlayer library is now available. Users of HQPlayer Embedded or Desktop can now browse, control and play their library directly from JPLAY. According to the developer, “this combines JPLAY’s refined audiophile interface with HQPlayer’s industry-leading upsampling and DSP capabilities. The integration eliminates the need for a separate local UPnP server and delivers the same fast and elegant browsing experience JPLAY is known for.

New History screen

The new History screen makes it easy to revisit previously played music. Tracks are organized by day, while a calendar view displays listening activity: days with longer sessions appear as brighter dots, allowing users to instantly identify their most active listening days and jump back into them. The History screen can be accessed via the side menu or through the new “Recent Listening” widget on the home screen.

Smart Playlists

Smart Playlists are dynamic playlists that are automatically generated based on user-defined filters such as library, genre, audio quality, year and more. This automates playlist creation according to personal preferences—useful when you don’t have a specific playlist in mind or simply don’t feel like creating one yourself.

The new JPLAY update is available now as a free download for existing users via the App Store. Update the app to access all new features.
