Magico announces S-SUB 2023

Magico has its second version of the S-SUB (almost) ready for sale, designed to work in conjunction with the brand’s S-series speakers.

In the Magico S-Sub 2023 (as it is officially called), you will find two brand-new 13-inch drivers. Furthermore, the S-Sub 2023 is derived from various concepts of the flagship subwoofer TITAN-15. The research conducted for that subwoofer allowed the S-Sub development team to make improvements in almost every aspect of the more affordable subwoofer. Hence, the mentioned new drivers equipped with a 75mm voice coil providing a linear excursion of 0.6 inches in both directions. Each driver individually offers a continuous power handling of 550 Watts RMS. Peak loads can be even higher. A rigid aluminum cone and an advanced drive system aim to create a “super-stabilized” magnetic field. Several copper shorting rings are employed to stabilize induction and minimize distortion.

Simulated and physically tested enclosure

The enclosure of the Magico S-Sub 2023 was developed through computer simulations as well as physical real-life tests, utilizing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software among other tools. All this research led to a robust 6061-T6-grade aluminum cabinet. Along with advanced damping materials, Magico guarantees an exceptionally quiet subwoofer enclosure. All drivers are powered by a Class D amplifier with a maximum output of 3200 Watt, and a DSP crossover filter provides numerous configurable options. The frequency range of the S-Sub 2023 extends from 15 Hz to 150 Hz.

The Magico S-Sub 2023 will be available from the last quarter of this year, in six high-gloss colors and a new Softtouch finish. At the time of writing, the price of the subwoofer is still unknown. The manufacturer’s website does not provide any information about the newcomer yet, but we found a photo on the company’s Facebook page (see screenshot at the top of this article).
