The new FiiO FW3 in-ears feature everything you could want in terms of in-ears, except ANC. But is that a real shortcoming…?
FiiO’s FW3 is a true wireless in-ear, offering a playing time of seven hours on a full battery charge. On the road, you can stretch the socket-less time by an additional 14 hours. Matter of using the included charging case, which again has its own battery. The FW3 is Bluetooth 5.2 based. Whereby a whole series of “better” codecs are supported. To be exact aptX Adaptive, LDAC, LHDC, aptX, AAC and finally the standard SBC. Of interest is the built-in Qualcomm Snapdragon sound chip that enables extremely low delay times of only 100 ms. Ideal for gamers, for example! There is a 10 mm carbon fiber driver in each cap and you can adjust the sound to your personal taste via a 10-band equalizer.
Sound quality over ANC
According to FiiO, ANC is absent because the focus of this model is entirely on sound quality. And to be perfectly honest, if you’re not constantly traveling with a plane or other noisy means of transportation, ANC often doesn’t matter that much either. Most in-ears, by virtue of their physical construction, block outside noise for a large part anyway. In short: nice in-ears for home, garden or boat. And for a nice price too: €110.
