British Life Changer Audio has released the icOn 5, a passive preamplifier (but with remote control).
You don’t see them particularly often, passive preamplifiers. The Life Changer Audio icOn 5 is the exception that proves the rule. At the heart of this device is not an electronic circuit that realizes amplification. Instead, it uses a Slagle autoformer, aka transformer. The manufacturer offers the choice between versions copper or silver wired windings. On the back of the iCon 5 you’ll find a battery of user-configurable RCA inputs, 8 pairs to be exact.
The Life Changer Audio icOn 5 is not the bargain of the day, with a price tag (depending on configuration) between €4626 and €6754. But after purchase, you will have something special in your hifi setup for sure!
