Ideal: an active speaker set with hi-res streaming, HDMI, phono input, and more onboard: spotlight on the brand new Technics SC-CX700.
Compact systems are—unsurprisingly—more popular than ever. The advantages are clear: they take up little space, and thanks to robust integrated electronics, ‘everything’ can be built into increasingly smaller housings. This brings us to the new Technics SC-CX700. This system consists of active speakers only, which essentially means you’re all set with just one purchase. No fuss with a central unit, leading to nearly the ultimate space-saving solution. A solid streaming base is equipped with Google Cast and is compatible with well-known music streaming services such as Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer, Amazon Music, and Spotify. Internet radio is part of the deal too, allowing you to listen to a myriad of radio stations worldwide. Connection to your (home) network is arranged via WiFi.
HDMI-ARC
The Technics SC-CX700 are also well-suited for use with a TV, thanks to their HDMI ARC input. And if you want to connect your old (or new) turntable, you can do so via the dedicated phono input. The speakers feature two ‘integrated’ drivers, including a ring tweeter mounted in the driver unit, all powered by a JENO-Engine class D amplifier.
Not all details of the speaker set are known yet, as it was just introduced at IFA. However, if you keep an eye on the linked page above, detailed information will likely appear over time. The SC-CX700 is priced at €2499.
