Earlier this month, a new season kicked off at the Norddeutsche HiFi Museum — definitely worth a visit if you’re into audio history!

Every year, the museum updates its exhibition, and this season there’s a special focus on the iconic Japanese brand Sansui. No fewer than fifty Sansui devices are on display in this freshly opened exhibition. The Uher corner has also been revamped, with a 2025 emphasis on the brand’s military applications. In total, the museum features 640 square meters of display space filled with rare and historic audio and music reproduction equipment — from phonographs and turntables to the Librophon, Tefifon, and early CD players.

Revox Room

For older visitors, the museum might bring back nostalgic memories, while younger guests may be amazed by the sheer size and complexity of some devices. One highlight is the Revox room, where the complete range of gear from the legendary Swiss manufacturer is on display. Many items are regularly demonstrated, with in-depth explanations provided.

Practical info

The Norddeutsche HiFi Museum (officially: Norddeutsche Museum für HiFi- und Studiotechnik) is open through October 31st, after which the team prepares for the next season. The entrance fee is a very reasonable €2, which also grants access to the tram museum located on the same grounds.

Important: Check the opening days before heading out — both museums are only open on (most) Sundays.

Address for both the HiFi and tram museums:
Am Straßenbahnmuseum 2, Sehnde, OT Wehmingen, Germany.
