Dutch distributor Reference Sounds has announced the Matrix Audio MD-1 and MD-1P—two all-in-one streaming amplifiers.
The brand-new Matrix Audio MD-1 and MD-1P combine a streamer and amplifier in a single unit. For many music lovers in 2025, this represents a true all-in-one solution. The main difference between the two models lies in their maximum output power.

With this, Matrix Audio has elevated its product line—both emotionally and sonically—to a whole new level. Matrix Audio’s MD-1 and MD-1P combine full streaming capabilities with analog volume control and a power amplifier—housed in the elegant aluminum chassis of the M-Series, featuring the brand’s signature perforated design.
According to the importer: “Matrix Audio has truly developed the MD-1 and MD-1P to be the epicenter of a premium yet minimalist high-end system. Everything has been thought of: HDMI-eARC input, USB audio input, XLR and RCA analog inputs, RCA phono input for MM cartridges, high-definition Bluetooth, NVMe SSD slot, direct CD ripping function via optional USB CD drive, pre-out and subwoofer outputs. In short: you name it!”

At the heart of the digital-to-analog conversion is AKM’s AK4493SEQ DAC, orchestrated by Matrix Audio’s in-house Femto Second Clock system and proprietary jitter-reduction algorithms. This lays the groundwork for an ultra-precise, distortion-free analog signal.
The analog volume control offers 256 steps ranging from -80 to +12 dB. According to the announcement, the designers paid great attention to achieving perfect channel balance, even at low listening levels. After volume control, the audio signal is routed to the amplifier stage, based on the renowned nCore switching technology—known for high efficiency, strong output power, and extremely low distortion. The result, according to the distributor, is “a crystal-clear sound that’s both agile and solid. We’re thoroughly impressed by these models, which, when you add up the features and sound quality, are hard to beat in this price range.”
Price and Availability
Two entirely new Matrix Audio streaming amplifiers are now available. Both are described as “versatile and efficient,” but differ in color and output power:
- MD-1: Available in silver only, with a maximum output of 150 watts per channel at 8 ohms.
Suggested retail price: €4,749 (incl. VAT). - MD-1P: Available in matte black only, delivering up to 300 watts per channel at 8 ohms.
