With vinyl enjoying a commercially viable revival, legendary products are slowly returning — including the London Decca cartridges.
While vinyl enthusiasts are still a relatively small group compared to digital music lovers, anything related to vinyl is currently commercially attractive enough to warrant production. That’s good news for the hardcore vinyl aficionado — not only for vinyl itself, but also for related products such as turntables, record cleaners, phono preamps, cartridges, and more.
In terms of cartridges, London Decca has announced that production of these cult classics will resume. This won’t just be a revival of existing models, but will also include completely new designs.
Sales and marketing will be handled by a division in the United States, while servicing old cartridges and manufacturing new ones will take place in the UK. How this will affect pricing worldwide remains to be seen. Trump’s tariff war will certainly not help, nor has Brexit — and still doesn’t. Fortunately, there are plenty of other cartridge manufacturers unaffected by these issues. But if you want a real London Decca, things are suddenly looking a lot more promising!
