Hopefully, the brands under Sound United have finally found a stable home under Harman’s wing, their new and official owner from now on.
Sound United has had a turbulent time, not least because it didn’t exactly thrive under its previous, non-industry owner, Masimo. Now, Harman – a Samsung subsidiary – has completed the acquisition of all the brands that once fell under Masimo’s project. This includes well-known names such as Marantz, HEOS, Polk Audio, and Denon. Sound United will now operate as an independent Strategic Business Unit (SBU) within the Harman Lifestyle Division.
With the completion of this acquisition, a group has been formed that represents the largest audio portfolio in the world. Whether this will ultimately be good or bad news for the hi-fi and high-end market remains to be seen.
